Today's interview and giveaway are from the lovely Anne of Pins and Thimbles I will be posting a tutorial by her after the grand opening event is over.
How many vintage sheets do you have right now?I limit myself to one large storage tub at a time. The variety and quality of patterns is limited in Australia, and I order most of what I use from the US.Oh, yes! I have just finished a quilt top in sea-coloured vintage sheets. Oh, it's so pretty. I made it with bluesand greens and yellows for sun rays over the ocean. It was custom ordered by a lovely couple who wanted a quilt 3x3m -- to drape over the sides of their king size bed. It's enormous! It's been a joy to cobble together the prints for the project, and I can't wait to see it quilted and share the photos -- sad for me, I have to let someone else do that because there is no way I am getting that much quilt under my Bernina!
Any fun projects planned using VS?
I've also been playing with little frame purses and hope to have some in the Etsy store soon. For me they're a perfect way to showcase the extraordinary prints.
How long have you been sewing?
Probably since before I could walk. One of my earliest memories is of making a stuffed 'snake' out of quilt squares my Mum had cut for a project. I think it was made by sewing one side of a square to another and shoving some batting inside. She was a very tolerant Mum and was very proud of my strange little 'projects'!
I was very motivated to sew clothing, too, because I'm 6 feet tall and nothing fits me off the rack. In fact, this year I'm working on something big: a line of clothing called Sarah Vain and Tall for women 5'10" and up.

What or who inspired you to start sewing with VS's?
I think the first time I became aware of vintage sheets was when Elizabeth Hartman of Oh, Fransson!
announced her swap. I was smitten right away. I scoured Aussie op shops for weeks to get prints that were worthy of that swap, and it cost me $$$ in postage too -- totally worth it because I found enough prints for

this project.
It was my first foray into machine quilting and it brightens up my Grandma's room in the nursing home. She gets great natural light in her room and the floral prints catch it for her.

How long have you been collecting vs's?Since that swap, I'm hooked, a helpless addict. It doesn't help that my lovely clients keep requesting the quiltsand cushions. It's a hard job but somebody's got to do it :)
I have been looking at photos for half an hour trying to choose, so I think the honest answer is; no -- for me, the magic is in the patchwork, the way the prints dance with one another.Do you have a fav vs print?(Photo)
Any prints you are coveting at the moment?(Photo)
I am always coveting more! But I can't choose! My dreams look a lot like this
:D
:D
Where do you find your VS's?
I do find some whole sheets at op shops and Ebay, but Mandy at Whimisedots
puts together packets of colors for me when I need them. She's amazing and such a sweet soul to boot.
