Today, I have an interview and a giveaway for you.... So fun. Love all these giveaways!
Melissa contacted me a week or so ago with a great project she just finished.... it is amazing!!
So enjoy the photos and interview...giveaway is at the bottom!
Isn't it to DIE for. All that vintage sheet ruffly goodness... can't wait to make one.
Pattern can be purchased here.
How many vintage sheets do you have right now?
Without getting up to count I'd guess about 5 complete sheets andscraps from at least 12. I think they all still fit in my rubbermaid
container but they've been scattered on the floor of the craft room
for so many weeks it's hard to say. I'm really trying to use them up
but every time I do I find another great one. It's a vicious
addiction!
Any fun projects planned using VS?
two more VS quilts--a picnic blanket with 25 15" sheet squares and a
new pattern I'm working on using a solid color vintage sheet tucked
and pieced into a wonky 9 patch. I need to put flannel sheet "batting"
and VS backs on both of these quilts. After that, probably some more
tote bags since they're so handy.
How long have you been sewing?
use a sewing machine. Then I took some quilting classes for kids.
What or who inspired you to start sewing with VS's?
all the cute projects I was seeing.
How long have you been collecting vs's?
Let's see, the first project I can definitively remember making from aVS (well, VPC, really) was a dress for my daughter when she was a baby
(documented on my old blog at:
http://underconstructiondaily.
So, about 4 years.
Do you have a fav vs print?
ruffle quilt I made for my daughter--the quilt that is shown in the
pattern. Oh, and I have the sheets from when I was a little girl.
Oddly, a Noah's Ark print even though nobody in my family is religious
but the colors are great.
Any prints you are coveting at the moment?
take what I find at the local thrift store. The Thrift Town near me
has the best and cheapest selection so I'm at their mercy for my
prints (and solids). I've recently become a big fan of working with
solid color sheets. Cheap yardage!
Where do you find your VS's?
Oops, just covered that! Thrift Town in Carmichael, CA (maybe Ishouldn't let your readers in on that secret!) and sometimes Deseret
Industries. I'm a creature of habit so those are the only two stores I
shop.
Here is the Scoop on the giveaway......
Two lucky readers will be picked randomly and will receive the ruffly pattern!!
